A Visual Anthropologist, author and international columnist, her work focuses on history, popular culture and intangible cultural heritage (ICH) of India and South Asia. Having a PhD from University of Calcutta along with being a Junior Research Fellow of the Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR), New Delhi she was recently deputed as Culture Specialist (Research) at SAARC Cultural Centre, Colombo, Sri Lanka and has also been Research Grant Fellow of the Indian High Commission, Sri Lanka.

As a Culture Specialist (Research) at SAARC- she has edited two volumes of prestigious “SAARC Art”- covering the intangible cultural heritage of the SAARC region and for the first time, the journal covered all eight Member States of the SAARC conglomerate. A former Assistant Professor from Symbiosis International (Deemed) University, Pune, she continues to teach at universities in India and abroad. She has represented India at various international conferences especially concerning ICH- the most recent ones being IOV-UNESCO World Assembly (Sharjah, 2019) and UNESCO-ICHCAP conference (Korea, October, 2020). 

At present- she is the Guest Editor for Nidan- International Journal for Indian Studies (ISSN: 2414-8636) of University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, Durban, South Africa- for its 4 issues (July and December) across 2021-2022 on Folklore of South Asia. She has authored more than thirty research papers in her field which have been published variously across international journals and books.

  •  India, Sri Lanka and the SAARC Region: History, Popular Culture and Heritage” (author)- recently published by Routledge, UK on October 29, 2020.
  • Stories of the Colonial Architecture- Kolkata- Colombo” (Doshor Publications) (author)- released at Kolkata International Book Fair, 2019. (This book is the result of her work as a Research Scholar of the Indian High Commission (Sri Lanka) to look at history of India and Sri Lanka and is the only book available across the two nations on colonial history).
To be published later in 2021-
  •  “Folktales, Legends and Modern Lores of India: From the Era of Oral Traditions to the Present (editor)- from Aleph Book Company (Rupa Publishing)- scheduled to be released on June 1, 2021.
  •   Folk rites, rituals and religious traditions of Radh Bengal- Understanding through history and ethnoarchaeology” (author)- being published by Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya (IGRMS), Bhopal (Govt. of India) – scheduled to be released in 2021.

  • As an editor as Culture Specialist (Research) at SAARC Cultural Centre, Colombo, Sri Lanka. She edited two volumes of 'SAARC Art'- covering for the first time, all the 8 member states of the SAARC conglomerate.
